To order these log into your Portal (where you applied for your room), add it to your cart and pay for it before you arrive. You can do all of this online and collect on arrival – It’s so it’s easy. For cooking in the common areas we provide ovens, microwaves, stove tops, hydro taps for hot water, toasters and sandwich presses. You will need to provide your own cooking pans, pots, utensils, etc. and keep them in your kitchen locker. You will need to bring for your own plates, cutlery, mugs and glasses.

All you need to do is bring your University of Sydney Student ID (SID) OR any Photo ID such as drivers licence or a passport will be fine should you not have your SID already.


	You will be issued an accommodation card which you will use to gain access to the building and your room.;
	You then must complete a room inventory to ensure everything is present and in order in your room (You will have 2 days to complete this); If you fail to complete this via the student portal within 48 hours of arrival, we will assume you are satisfied with your room;


Reception is open Mon to Fri 9am-6pm and Sat-Sun 10am-3pm. Outside of office hours push the intercom button on the front door or call the duty manager on 0466 559 737 as we have staff on site working 24/7.

What do the general facilities at Queen Mary include?

Queen Mary Building is located on the Camperdown side of the main campus. Originally a home for the nurses of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, it was recently converted by the University into a modern and innovative residence for 800 students over 10 floors.

The star feature of the building is the rooftop and sky lounges &ndash; with stunning views of Sydney&rsquo;s Central Business District this is a perfect spot for barbecues, quiet reading or early morning yoga.

The majority of rooms at the Queen Mary Building (QMB) are single rooms of the same size and layout. The size of the room is generally about 10sqm.

What kind of contracts are on offer?

48 week or 26-week contracts are on offer to all USYD students.

What does my rent include?

A fully furnished room, all utilities are included, access to unlimited internet and Wi-Fi, use of our common facilities and ability to participate in our Residential Life Program.

Do you have car parking facilities?

No, we do not offer parking facilities. However, there are paid parking options for parking on campus or students can apply for a street parking permit through the council for a small fee.

When do I pay my rent?

Rent is due every second Tuesday. You can view if you have any outstanding charges on your account via the USYD student portal.

How does my mail get to me?

Each student is given their own letterbox which is situated on the Ground floor. All letters will be placed in this letterbox. Parcels that do not fit in your letterbox will be accepted by reception staff. You will then receive an email from reception staff once the parcel has been receipted into our system. All parcels are to be collected from reception within 48 hours of receiving the email.

What do I need to buy before I can move in?

When you arrive, your room will be already furnished with a bed, mattress, desk and chair. You will need to provide your own linen. Beds are king single beds. Kitchen & Linen packs can be ordered via the UniLodge YourShop page.

How close is the nearest supermarket?

There is an IGA 1km away at 40 King Street. A short 15-minute walk.

If I really want to move apartments/rooms after I move in – is that possible?

Room moves are subject to availability. You can move rooms within the building by speaking to a Staff member and submitting a request.

Can I move out at any time?

Accepted Answer

A Booking Variation request will need to be submitted via the student portal. If you wish to terminate your lease early, you will need to pay an early termination fee of &#36;200 plus rent until a new resident is found or until the contract end date, whichever is sooner.

Is there extra storage outside my apartment?

Beds are designed a little higher so you can put luggage under them however there is no additional storage outside of your room. If you have items you wish to store you will need to contact a local storage service provider.

How do I connect the internet/phone?

There is no phone in the room. For internet, you will be able to connect to the Residents WIFI via your USYD UniKey.

A bond is a payment that acts as security against the resident meeting the terms of their residence agreement.

Upon arrival we must prepare an &lsquo;Inventory Report&rsquo;, which records the property&rsquo;s general condition, including fittings and fixtures. You will be able to complete the Inventory Report via the student portal within the first 48 hours of moving into the residence.

I am vacating, can I use the Bond for my last month’s rent?

Your bond and rent are separate payments. You are required to pay rent in the specified way up to and including the date of your departure.

What happens when I vacate?

You need to leave your apartment clean and tidy in the same condition as when you arrived, ensure all personal items have been removed and report any damage that may have been caused during your contract. This allows for a speedy bond resolution.

If I wanted to break my lease, what are the costs associated with this?
