Does this property have an Application fee?

Yes a non-refundable application fee of $55 is required to be paid.

Is an advanced payment required?

Yes. To secure an apartment, the Resident must pay a Security Deposit equivalent to 4 weeks of occupancy fee, an Application fee of $55, a Residential Life fee of $150 and two weeks of rent in advance. Prices vary depending on the room type.

Is there a cancellation fee once I have secured an apartment?

After the Offer of Accommodation is accepted, but more than 14 days before the Start Date:

Non-refundable: Application Fee of $55.
Refundable: Security Deposit Equal to 4 weeks’ worth of rent, Residential Life fee of $150 and two weeks of advance rent.

Between 1 and 14 days before the start date of your contract:

Cancellation Fee equivalent to one week of Occupancy Fees.

Non-refundable: Application Fee of $55.
Refundable: Security Deposit Equal to 4 weeks’ worth of rent, Residential Life fee of $150 and two weeks of advance rent.

On or after the start date of your contract:

Cancellation Fee equivalent to one week of Occupancy Fees.
Non-refundable: Application Fee of $55 and Residential Life fee of $150.

Occupancy Fees charged and Security Deposit retained until a suitable replacement is secured, or until 6 weeks following the termination date.

Are car parking spaces available?

Weeden Lodge offers a limited amount of internal and external car parking bays paid separately to your Occupancy Fees.  Parking on campus for Cooper and UC Lodge residents is managed by the University of Canberra.

Do I need to pay a departure clean fee?

Yes, you must pay a Departure Cleaning Fee of $120 at the end of the contract. Additional cleaning fees may apply.

If I wanted to break my lease, what are the costs associated with this?

The resident will be charged an Early Termination Fee equal to one week of rent (dependent on room type), the resident will need to pay up to 6 weeks after vacating or find a suitable replacement to take over the remainder of the contract, whichever comes first.

What utility costs am I responsible for?

Water and electricity are included in your rent.

How much is the Internet / WIFI? Who is the provider and how much bandwidth do I have?

For University of Canberra Students residing at UniLodge @ UC – UC Lodge and UniLodge @ UC – Cooper Lodge, Internet access and WiFi is provided by UC. To access the WiFi please use your Uni ID number and password. Contact UC if you have any issues.

For residents of UniLodge @ UC – Weeden Lodge, internet costs are not included in the utility bills. Internet services can be arranged or purchased directly with our contracted supplier, Superloop.

Do I need a mattress protector?

Yes, you need to use a mattress protector which we will provide on your check in.

Do I need to organise my own Contents Insurance?

Yes this is not included in your rent.

Where can I find resources to manage my health and wellbeing?

UniLodge has listed a number of resources on our Student Health and Wellbeing page.

What are your check-in times and days?

Check in is available Monday to Friday, 10am – 6pm from property reception. We do not offer check in on weekends or public holidays.

 

Do you offer after hours check-in?

Yes - please call our after hours on-site staff on 0403 794 167, they will have you complete some paperwork, provide you with your key and show you to your room.

Is the residential life program fee a one-off payment?

You need to pay for the residential life program fee annually. It is compulsory and it covers for a range of events and activities organised by Unilodge.

Will someone help me if something is broken/ not working in my room?

Yes, we have a professional maintenance team to support the general maintenance requests. Contractors may be arranged if the issue persists.

Do you take cash payments?

Unfortunately we do not take cash payments in the lodges. You can make rent payments through credit/debit cards or pay online.
