Favourite Room/Facility in the Property?
My favourite group of units would be UniLodge @ UQ St Lucia. The units are lovely and modern and private with great views of the Brisbane City and they are just a short walk to The University of Queensland. For post graduate students, UniLodge Macquarie would be my choice as it is a nice quiet area with a great light filled aspect.
What’s the name of your favourite local food shop?
My favourite restaurant in St Lucia is the Pizza Caffé at UQ. UniLodge hold our welcome parties there at the beginning of each Semester and they are always an awesome night, with lots of amazing food and conversation.
What does Residential Life mean to you?
At St Lucia we have our Community Spirit Programme. For the team at St Lucia, it is our opportunity to throw events for the residents, so they can get to know each other better and also get to know more about the local sites of Brisbane. We organise a mixture of informal events like our Welcome evenings at Unilodge UQ, sports activities like volleyball at the UQ courts and trips away to the Gold Coast and Bribie Island. We also hold an annual End of Year celebratory dinner, which is a lovely way to end the semester after exams have finished.
What has been your favourite Residential Life Event?
My favourite CSP event is the petting zoo we hold in the week before exams commence. What better of de-stressing about exams and studies in general than by cuddling a puppy or patting an alpaca!
If you could give new residents one tip before they arrive. What would it be?
Come to your new home willing to step outside your comfort and experience as much as you can while you are here. Oh, and work hard at your studies too!
What’s the last compliment your team received?
All of our customer service team receive compliments from our residents for helping them settle into their new home but this was a nice comment from a resident’s mother:

I write to compliment Raj, your Customer Service Coordinator for his efficiency and patience.
When my son moved, there were a few issues with the dryer, toilet door and aircon but Raj was onto the job and quick in getting workmen in to get things fixed which was awesome.
Please relay our appreciation to Raj for his valuable help to the boys (so they could settle in quickly) and his professionalism.
What do you love most about being a property manager?
I love getting to know the new resident and watch them grow in confidence, particularly when they are new to Australia or from regional Australia. It’s also lovely to see the residents who are selected to be Residential Advisors develop their leadership skills as they take ownership of the CSP events.
