Getting to Know Us Series - Taylor from UniLodge @ UC

Please meet Taylor, our Residential Life Manager (RLM) at UniLodge @ UC. She was previously a Resident Advisor (RA) at the team and has recently stepped up to the role as the RLM! 

What do you like most about your role?

I love the interactions that I get to have with the residents and the RA team. As a social person I love the conversations that you get to have with those around you and I love trying to make the stay of every resident here one to remember for all the right reasons!

What made you want to become a Res Life Manager?

I absolutely loved my role as a Residential Advisor and saw the RLM opportunity as a great way to further make a positive impact on the lives of the residents that live with us here at UniLodge @ UC. I could not speak more highly of my residential experience and so want to help create lasting memories and similar experiences for other residents staying here with us.

What does Residential Life mean to you?

Residential Life to me means having fun, meeting new people, making lifelong friends and memories while participating in all the events that you can. It is about making the most of the opportunities around you and enjoying your time while at university.

What has been your favourite Res Life Event?

My favourite res life event would have to be Commencement Ball 2020. It was a great way to get everyone involved from UniLodge @ UC. Everything about the event from the food to the music and the residents involved made it a perfect start to the year.

Do you have any advice/comments for new students?

The best advice I ever received on my first day as a resident back in 2018 was to go to as many events as possible. I took this to heart and did exactly that and have made so many great friends and memories because of it. This would be my advice to anyone looking to stay in university accommodation. Get involved in as many activities as you can and really enjoy your time here on res because it can be some of the best years of your life.

What do you love most about being a Res Life Manager?

The people and the interactions that I get to have with the residents and RAs each and every day!

Why should the person reading this pick your property as their new home?

UniLodge at UC has a wide variety of accommodation including single rooms and multi-share apartments. It all has a great atmosphere and is the best way to make new friends. It is also super convenient living on res so you don’t have to get out of bed much before your class. I have lived in both multi-share apartments and a single room and have loved both experiences. Multi-shares are a fantastic way to make friends straight away but if you prefer your own space a single room will be great for you with the option of socialising with those around you as well.
